Frost interviewed Nixon in a Californian seaside home. Entertainment Tonight interviewed David Lee Roth in the “tranquility” of his bed. Filmed in 1981, this historical gem must be the greatest interview in Rock ‘n’ Roll history.
Some highlights include DLR explaining style and class, as well as demonstrating how a banker plays the guitar versus how a rock ‘n roller plays the guitar.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper interview with DLR if there weren’t a bunch of quotes that make absolutely no sense:
“Van Halen is what I like to call High Velocity Folk Music”
“I look at Van Halen’s brand of heavy metal music as a combination of religion and hockey.”
“When the Van Halen image began taking shape, I started spending more time in bed, actually.”
Thank God for YouTube and Diamond Dave.
